With the Presidential election coming in November and gas prices at an all time high,
there are several different views being suggested by presidential candidates on how to
bring down the price of oil.
One notion is to drill for oil in the United States in places like Alaska.
The goal of this approach would be to reduce dependence on foreign oil and
therefore help keep costs lower for Americans.
The counter argument suggests that drilling for oil in Alaska further damages the environment,
and would only represent a short-term solution for a fossil fuel that will run out eventually anyway.
